I Want to Dress Like...

... a flapper from the 20s.

Ah, the glamour and decadence of the 20s. I love almost everything about the era; when art deco was fresh and new, when sophistication and jazz and excess luxury and liberal hedonism blended into something only I can dream of experiencing. XP I wanna be a flapper girl and relive all those golden days - well, minus the excessive jewellery and the hedonism of course! You can't wear flapper head to toe without looking like you're on your way to a Halloween costume party.

It's very VERY difficult to find genuine 20s dresses (especially flapper dresses) for cheap these days as most have become collector's items and are locked away in museums and private collections. D: Even if there are some for sale they are very very expensive.

Very very.

But of course who can resist all the amazing handiwork on these gorgeous dresses?

Miss Francesca of The Snail and the Cyclops had a very lovely delicate piece in her hands but by the time I got to it it was already long sold, and it would have been too expensive to buy anyways... T__T

Isn't it just darling?

But fret not ladies! The good news is that there ARE 20s repro dresses, but yes, they are pretty exorbitantly priced as well. But we can always dream, right? ;)

They can't beat the real flapper dresses of course, but what other choice do we have...

Here's a lil song to transport you to a smoky 20s era speakeasy.. have fun!
